Don't Get Left Behind

When the first true, large-scale quantum computers go live, the world will change overnight. Companies that haven't prepared will face massive security risks and fall drastically behind their competitors (Mosca, 2018).

1. Upgrade Your Armor

Hackers are currently employing a "store now, decrypt later" strategy. They are stealing encrypted data today and just storing it, waiting for quantum computers to be built so they can crack it open later. Businesses must switch to Post-Quantum Cryptography immediately to protect their long-term intellectual property.

2. Train the Team

You cannot program a quantum computer with regular classical code like Python or Java in the traditional sense. Software engineers need to start learning new quantum languages, like IBM's Qiskit, so they actually know how to drive the vehicle when it finally arrives in the enterprise space.

3. Find the Bottlenecks

Before buying into the hype, companies need to look at their current operations and ask: "What math problem is slowing us down the most?" By identifying these massive logistical or computational bottlenecks today, organizations will know exactly what tasks to feed the quantum computer tomorrow.
